Cut Prep Time

A lot of the time it takes to make a meal comes down to preping the ingredients.  Doing some of the work ahead of time can sure save you on a busy day.  Here are a few ideas to help you cut down on your prep-time.

Buy in bulk and prepare all at once – Time invested now will save much more time later.   Buy chicken or hamburger when it is on sale and…

Cook chicken
by baking or boiling and then cut into cubes and store 2 cups in a freezer bag to use in recipes later. You can use your slow cooker to boil chicken while you are at work. My favorite method is to put 8 chicken breasts on a foil lined cookie sheet with sides, season and bake until no longer pink inside.

Put chicken pieces into a gallon size freezer bag and add marinade. Freeze until ready to use. Let it thaw and it is ready to go on the grill or into the oven. Sometimes I use BBQ sauce or salsa instead of a marinade.

Cook hamburger by browning it and storing it in 2 cup servings in freezer bags.  You can cook with chopped onion or even taco seasoning.

Buy veggies when on sale. – Wash, chop, dice or cube. Lay in one layer on a cookie sheet. Once frozen, toss into a freezer bag to use later. You can freeze lemons whole or in slices to use in drinks.
