Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

This is one of my husband’s desserts! I have not met anyone yet who does not like them.  Such a lovely combination of flavors.  All of my kids have learned to make these themselves so they don’t have to wait for me to get around to it!

Ingredients
  • 2⅓ cups flour
  • ⅔ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup butter
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups Hershey’s Semi-Sweet chocolate Chips, divided
  • 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 ¾ cup Toffee Bits
Instructions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a 9x13 pan.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together flour and brown sugar.
  4. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add egg and mix well.
  6. Stir in 1 ½ cups chocolate chips. Reserve 1 ½ cups mixture.
  7. Press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared pan.
  8. Bake 10 minutes.
  9. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over hot crust; top with 1 ½ cups toffee bits.
  10. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining ½ cup chips over top.
  11. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Cool completely.
  13. Cut into 20 bars.
